Effective January 1, 2027, the five Associations of the Michigan Conference of the United Church of Christ have agreed to delegate the work of their respective Committees on Ministry to a joint Unified Committee on Ministry (UCOM). The Southwest Association representatives to the UCOM are listed here.
The UCOM consists of 5 teams:
Ministerial Authorization Team
- Manual on Ministry responsibilities from sections 2:1 and 2:4
- Members in Discernment
- Lay Ministers (i.e. Licensed Ministers)
Ministerial Standing Team
- Manual on Ministry responsibilities from sections 2:2, 2:3, and 2:5
- Ordained Ministerial Standing
- Ecumenically Ordained Ministers
- Covenants and Endorsements
Ministerial Support and Accountability Team
- Manual on Ministry responsibilities from section 2:6
- Support Processes
- Accountability Processes (including Fitness Reviews)
Church Support and Accountability
- Manual on Church responsibilities
Coordinating Team
- Oversee and support the work of four working teams
- Communicate processes and decisions to Association governing bodies regularly, as appropriate
- Fulfill registrar responsibilities
- Coordinate registrar responsibilities with Conference registrar
- Plan and implement training for UCoM members
- Hear Fitness Review appeals
- Other coordinating work as needed
